Monday Monthly: Leading in Uncertainty

“'tis impossible to be sure of any thing but Death and Taxes,” says Toby Guzzle in Christopher Bullock’s, The Cobbler of Preston, 1716. Benjamin Franklin wrote similarly when warning about the danger of seeing the newly established US Constitution as permanent.

How do you lead in the face of ‘not knowing’ what the next years – or even weeks, days – hold?

When faced with increasing pressure, complexity and uncertainty, we can readily be drawn into unhelpful reactive patterns.

If you’re used to feeling in control, the experience of ‘not knowing’ can be significantly de-stabilising.

How do we behave and communicate effectively when so much seems so uncertain?

How can, or have, you develop(-ed) your leadership to work with uncertainty; opening out and benefiting from it?

On signing up, we’ll send you a short resource exploring our relationship with uncertainty. We’ll use the descriptions of what experience shows us as helpful relevant qualities, and the reflective questions therein as stepping off points in our inquiry together, perhaps discovering helpful practical experiments to try along the way.
